Pencoed RFC. was established in 1889 and has long had a
proud tradition of producing some of the most prominent players to grace the
rugby field. Too date the club can boast eleven full Internationals, notably
some of our graduates from our long line, include our first Cap from the club,
Wayne Hall, our first British Lion Scott Gibbs, former Welsh Captain Gareth
Thomas & current Welsh Internationals Gavin Henson, and Gareth Cooper, not
forgetting former internationals Nathan Thomas, Gareth Jones, Gareth Williams,
Adrian Davies, James Bater, and Hugh Williams - Jones. This proud tradition of
player development continues today, as we still provide young players of a high
quality, who are currently enjoying the highest level of competition. Many of
these have emerged to distinguish themselves at Age Group, Regional and
Premiership levels. This success is a result of an ambitious club who pride
themselves on having an active Mini, Junior, Youth, and Senior section, and were
one of the first clubs in Wales to initiate Mini & Junior Rugby. Pencoed R.F.C.
have always considered themselves as an integrated part of the community and are
regularly party to many events held locally. The club prides itself on being a
family orientated club and always extends a warm and friendly welcome to
everyone.
